The Port Hills fires started on Monday 13th of February 2017.Did you know that it took approximately 66 days to blow out the Port hills Inferno.
There were 3 Non-fatal injuries and only one death. I
know only one death. I mean they would have seen it and went .Wednesday night, the fires had combined to one large area. A helicopter crashed helping to fight the inferno, causing the death of a pilot. What a brave pilot.
9 houses were completely destroyed and 5 were damaged, and hundreds of residents were evacuated. The fire burnt through 1,600 hectares of land. Their was 2 fire but it merged into one big massive fire
there were about 150 people on the ground battling the fire
and 14 helicopters and three fixed wing aircraft.
